Great place to stay in Bangkok/Phuket?
I am wrapping up my RTW, and as the motorcycle floats from Korea to Los Angeles, I am flying to meet the girly in Thailand. A few days in Bangkok, and maybe a week in Phuket.
I am sure that some of you have been there before, and I am wondering about great (and cheap!) places to stay. I am looking mainly to chill out for the time there, so away from the screaming city is better. I'm thinking about a little bungalow near the beach... Thanks for any info... Rene

On Phuket, try to stay away from Patong if you want some peace of mind. I stayed just about 2km up the road from Chalong Bay. Shanti Lodge.
It's easy to find: Coming from Patong, at the main roundabout in Chalong turn left. 2km up the road the guesthouse is on the lefthand side. (It's a bit set back from the street). Shanti Phuket :: Shanti Lodge - An Oasis Good food there as well! Cheers Bjorn |

I know this a late reply but i thought i would share...
In BKK The Atlanta Hotel, Bankok Is a cool place to stay if you want somewhere cheapish with great character and an excellent cheap resturant. The 'Weeping Tiger' is excellent to eat (note- not made with tiger; made with beef! before anyone gets angry!) as is the homemade pineapple jam and toast at breakfast. I love the old style and even the phone system looks period! |
