Georgia, Aserbaijan, Armenia

Does anyone have recent information about the situation in these countries, what border posts are open (we will come from Turkey)?

Many thanks in advance
Albert

We were there last summer. You cannot get into Armenia or vice versa from Azerbaijan or Turkey. Armenia is accessible from Georgia and Iran.

Azerbaijan may only give you a 3 day transit for the bike. We overstayed ours by a week and were fined a whopping $7.

Be careful in Georgia. Azerbaijan is safe. We didn't get to Armenia, so can't help you there.

Have fun!

Trailblazer

Trailblaizer has a very good guidbook on Azerbajzan, with a few things on Georgia.

I didn't anticipate on the cultural difference between Azerbajzan and Georgia. Both countries in 2 and a half weeks or so was a bit overwhelming, but deffinatly worth it.

I have been in Azerbaijan, Georgia amd Armenia on motorcycle in September 2003. You can find some more detail on:

In general, Azerbaijan and Armenia are safe, Georgia is tricky. You can find more info about Georgia in "Southern Asia" forum.

yep, i agree. georgie can be very tricky if you choose to go off the beaten track. some guys tryed to stop me last year in may when i was going direction kutaisi. they had guns but i had a 250 cc yamaha wich was better considering the roadconditions over there. in georgie i heard a lot about agression an robbing on the street. never get your cash outside in an atm...

Hello You can pick up visas for Georgia from I think the town is called Trabozon on the black sea on your way to Georgia they cost $30us from memory and done in 5mins. This visa should give you 7 days free in Azerbaijan. We chose to head through Armenia instead which was another $30us from memory and can be picked up at the boarder. Absolutly loved Georgia and enjoyed Armenia but would probably head through Azerbaijan if I did trip over. Safe travels

As of last summer, many nationalities, including US and EU did not require a visa for entry to Georgia.
