Fuel restrictions in Iran?
Hi there,
planning on driving Amsterdam - Delhi at the end of this year. Some people told me that at the moment Fuel is restricted in Iran and the locals need special coupons to get fuel. These coupons are only limited supplied. Can anyone confirm this? If it's true I just have to fill up my sidecare till the rim in Turkey...;-) thanx, Roland |

No problem...
Roland,
Search the forum, there are a couple of treads explaining exactly what to do. Basically, you can get a fuel card a few km's after you crossed the border. The fuell will be more expensive (about half a € if I'm right) then before, but still very cheap compared to Europe and especially Turkey. There's black market fuel and sometimes you can get some fuel from taxi drivers, pick-ups or the police if you're card is empty. This is easier inland then near the border. Enjoy the ride! And make sure there's no holes in the side car when you're filling it. ;-) |

What about diesel?
Hi,
from what I researched in the HUBB and various websites you can get an petrol cards in most NIOPDC petrol stations (100litres for roughly $50). Parentally u can get as a traveller as many cards as you want. The black market price should be lower, but sometimes hard to get. The really good link describing the situations is this one: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...roblem-27984-1 I have a question regarding the diesel vehicles. I was just told that Iranians may not let a diesel vehicle into the country and if they will only few petrol stations have diesel. Anybody has any experience? Thank you |

fuel recstriction in iran
Hi there,
I was been in iran on last august, and i had to face the same trouble. u could choose two options: first one, like i did (i was in Orumiye) go to the oil company offices, ask for the fuel card (officially just one each month/100lts.) waste a couple of hours, then u'll be received by the boss, sayng only one card. u must to insist for two of it, may he became hangry, but he's allow u to buy a pair. bring the paper, go to the bank, pay 4 the two cards a 40eu. total amount, then back to the oil company once again, show the bank receipt, and bring the cards with you. once at the gas station, put the card onto the pump card drive, and refuelling the tank 24 LITRES/DAY ONLY!!!!! so u must to have 2 cards in that case. then you'll pay the regular fuel price at the pump 1000rials ,0.08 euro cents/litre... second chanche: if you have a lot of time to spend in Persia, reach any gas station, and ask or wait someone approaching you. they'll ask u may u need gasoline, they can give u, sometimes for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have a nice trip. |
