Ferry to Queshm Iran
 

Hello All,
Anybody got any info on the ferry to Queshm as in times, price and the like.
In Shiraz at the moment heading south to Queshm.

not very impressed with there service this is the second time
DHL have made a mess of delivering this package, but it does

hi,
ferry from bandar-a-pol, ca. 45km north from bandar-a-abbas,on the way to bandar-e-lengeh is free for foreigners and there is no timetable.start at ca. 8:00am till sunset.
you need passport and carnet, it's like a border.
i stayed one week in the village of laft, got there free accomodation in the muncipal-really great!
but be careful with the exploration of the island, in the north of the island,there is a military camp, i was captured there for 6 hours ;-(

now I'm on Horizon... We are in Bandar-e Abbas, you in Quesh? Buddy didn't want to go to neither there nor Kish, despite us being at both ferries. Planning to go diving outside the island tomorrow or saturday. We leave for Dubai on sunday morning.

first of all: helmut, what did you do in qeshm to get captured? the police is a problem, we ran into them as well... but were you walking around shirtless again?

secondly, marcus, how do you plan to get to dubai? if yoou're taking the ferry from bandar brace yourself for e very lenghty port procedure here, and an expensiv one too (see other post on this forum) and arrange a pick up because you won't get your bike back from customs the same day...

no, nearly dressed like a real biker ;-)
it was not the police, but the military. i rode to the north end of queshm, road became unsealed and ended at a military camp.
i didnt expect this treatment, so i greeted the soldiers and asked for the way.
i should not have done this.the took away the key,passport and camera and i had to wait there, sitting on a chair in front of the entry of the camp for the arriving of the camp-manager, at least the whole afternoon.nobody spoke english, so it was not really comfortable,otherwise, i got to drink and to eat ;-)
after this time, it became really strange, because before the manager arrived, the took a scarf over my eyes !!
after that two guys, not in uniforms, made a interwiev with me and took a video from that. very strange!!

mh, strange indeed and not really fun. but you don't sounds traumatised, luckily. enjoy india and be careful. for us it's almost over, we're flying back to italy from dubai tomorrow, then freeze our butts of riding home. yemen was great by the way.

i'm hoping to take my car from bandar pol to qeshm after a week or so. you say the ferry is free?? was this just a kindness made to you, or is this a rule? do cars (i.e. 4x4s) go free too? why is it free iranians have to pay! do i need another page in my carnet?

as far as i know nobody had to pay - from bandar-e-pol, that is. you wont need a carnet page either; they just want a copy of your iran page -in the office next to the quay where the boat leaves- because the island is a special tax-zone or something; but no stamps, no hassle. enjoy qeshm, it's a nice place.
