Europe Asia and South East Asia

Hi all,
I'm planning a major adventure trip on a Triumph later this year. I'll be heading through the following countries (as well as the obvious European ones)
Ukraine
Russia
Kazakhstan
China
Vietnam - (is it still impossible to get a foreign registered big bike in?)
Laos
Cambodia
Thailand
If anyone's ever riden through any of these and has any advice or tips, I'd be eternally grateful.
Cheers
Phil

entering China with your own vehicle gets asked here about once a week. The general consensus seems to be, that it´s not 100% impossible, but will consume a ridiculous amount of time, nerves, and money - especially that last one in your case, cos you´d want to go all the way from Kazakhstan to SE Asia. That´s why most travellers decide to do something else.

And basically the same goes for Vietnam these days. Or of course you can try your luck on an "unofficial" entry at the borders, but I wouldn´t count on succeeding.

The road actually seems to be more freely open to Mongolia & Russian Far East (but you don´t want to be caught out by winter over there). Or also to India, provided you have the carnet, and then you can freight the bike to SE Asia. I did that 3 years ago, and had a great time.

Hi Pecha,
Thanks for your advice.
I travelled in China a few years ago (without a bike) as part of a media trip and even then it wasn't easy. But I guess we wouldn't try these things if they were easy.
I'm trying a few things with the Chinese authorities to see what I can get. Will keep you up to date with progress. If I can get through China, then I can either try Laos, or by sea tpo Cambodia or Thailand although I'd rather do the entire trip by land.
Thanks again
