Big bike tyres now available in Goa !!!

I’ve discovered the holy grail - an Indian tyre dealer that can get big bike tyres!

Standard Vulcanizing Works
Poonam Appts, Shop No 3
Near Aldona bus stop
Mapusa
Goa

Ph 0832 3110493

Have just bought a 150x70x17 road tyre for $150 including fitting, they have a number of tyres for big bikes on hand and can easily order in to suit from importers in Pune.

Lies, lies, lies.
This tyre dealer was NOT able to deliver the tyre he promised us despite his reassurances that he had the tyre.
Still - well worth checking them out - they did have a rack of big bike tyres on hand, both street and dual purpose, and they might be able to order you in a tyre. Or not.

I've pondered this 'big-tyre' problem and their availability re: My Thai Trip.
I came up with this:
Big bikes are not a common sight in Iran, Pakistan, India or further east. Consequently, any retailer that goes to the trouble of getting them in has no-way of knowing when the tyres will sell - if at all. Also, given the miriad of different tyre sizes, the retailer would need to be cash positive in order to allow odd tyres to sit on the shelf awaiting a buyer.
Conclusion: Could any of our fellow members, who reside in the countries concerned, make a note of retailers who do GENUINELY stock, or can provide, 'big bike tyres', so that we can all benifit from knowing that we can obtain what we need, when we need it. It would also benifit the retailer, of course.
The other solution to this problem is to send the tyres you need to a Trustworthy recipient in the country concerned before you leave UK - providing you know someone who can receive them!
Cheers, Oletimer (George)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
