Enfield Bullet Rental???
Dear All,
Am intending to visit India for a month this summer and will head for the Himalayas. The intention is to be based in Manali and take it from there. Any suggestions reference Enfield Bullet RENTAL… *Rent in Delhi and ride north? *Rent in Manali? *Recommend any good rental shops? *Any rental shops to avoid? *Prices? On one German India-touring website euro150/gbp100 per week is mentioned. What is the going rate? Cheers for any info. Ride safely, ChrisB

You could rent Enfields in Manali from the mechanic in town & also from a shop just out of town near the turn off up to Vashist.
No idea what price is now - user to be 500rps a week. Or you can buy an Enfield in Manali - loads for sale - and sell it again when you get back. Should work out cheaper. Enjoy.

Met a chap in Delhi who had managed to get a rental for 300Rs a day (or maybe it was even 200 ...?). It was called something like Sunni Boni (???) off Desbanda Gupta Rd. But it didn't look like a great bike.
With rental, there is some difficulty with having to confirm with the shop before carrying out any major repairs. Also any non-engine related repairs are your responsibility. But the quality of the bike is THE main consideration. If you want to get a bike you've rented checked over there is one ace mechanic in Delhi, an honest guy too: Papu at John's Autos, Pandara Rd, just off India Gate. If you want to buy a bike in Manali around mid-late June, I'm yer man. |

All,
Many thanks for your input. My first option is to borrow a bike (350cc in Manali) from an aquaintance (and donate whatever the rental fee would be to the local hospital). If this doesn't happen, I aim to rent in Manali. I don't fancy riding the bike from Dehli up the hill (and back down again). Cheers Chris PS. I plan to be in and around Manali from late August to late September. So, if you're around there, drop me a line.
