DVD Riding solo to top of world

I came across this DVD on a British bike website , I thought it might be of interest to HUBB members .
I have no connection to the company but it looks interesting .
There is an 8 minute trailer of the documentary .

Thumbs up Awesome!

The trailer looked great and I put my name down for the DVD. I guess it premiered here in Calgary at the film festival. Too bad we missed it..

I met Gaurav on his filming expedition in northern India. Great bloke. He also took the pic of me on the front cover of AMH5. I'm buying the DVD now.

There's some more footage of him and me at http://www.thebrightstuff.com/othertrips.htm
then scroll down to "videos".

Cheers
Chris

Excellent DVD!!!

This is the stuff >> if you want to see what would Long way around would look like without the Back up crew, Follow up vehicle and full time camera man!

really tough but excellent film, especially when he shows how being alone for each and every shoot of him riding , he has to first climb the sides to a suitable spot leave the camera and stuff running in location and then ride back and do the shot.

Gaurav is really a very very nice and a hospitable person, I met him when this DVD was shown in the International Film festival in Mumbai. He showed me the whole film in his house and wouldn't leave me without having lunch with him.

Really Nice Bloke ! DVD is a must watch.
Please leave feedback at >> info@dirttrackproductions.com or you can leave it here, http://www.dirttrackproductions.com/reviews.php

He is also an active member of the http://www.60kph.com/ biking club in india.

something more about Gaurav >

This is the recommendation writeup about this DVD / Gaurav by Linda Bick

I want to mention that Gaurav, my guide into Bombay on his 350 Bullett, has made an absolutely amazing film which has been accepted for the Bombay Film Festival and hopefully, will be accepted for the other International ones for which he has he has entered it.

Riding Solo to the Roof of the World produced by Gaurav Jani
http://www.haefale.de/linda/Latest_N...m__riding.html

As you may know Bombay is famous for its film industry and Gaurav had been involved in this for several years before deciding to satisfy his yearning to see more of India and its people travelling by motorcycle. He tried to interest others in sponsoring him and a small film crew to document his travels but, with no commercial help forthcoming, finally decided to do it alone.

He chose to go north and rode his 350cc motorcycle all the way from Mumbai to one of the remotest places in the World, the Changthang Plateau, in Ladakh, bordering China.

Situated at an average altitude of 15,000 feet, Changthang covers almost 30,000 square kilometers of Ladakh A land devoid of roads and with temperatures which dip to minus 40 degree Celsius in winter.

Gaurav made contact with the nomadic tribes there and the film is not only a tribute to his riding and photographic skills but to his ability to interact on a personal level with these very remote people. He also managed to get permission to film in places where National Geographic was denied. The difficulties he faced filming himself while battling with icy road conditions and altitude sickness have to be seen to be believed.

This film makes "The Long way Round" look easy!

If any of you have contacts in the film or TV world that can help Gaurav with his marketing of this film please contact him for the full synopsis at info@dirttrackproductions.com
