If you are travelling independently on a bike, there is no easy way to get into China. Riding into China may be possible, but you need to set something up in well in advance and its going to cost lots of money. And if your bike is over 175cc, you are unlikely to get into Vietnam also.

If you haven't yet done a search, there is lots of info on this site regarding China. China doesn't seem to be encouraging independent bike travel at the moment.

Exactly, but maybe you want to join us crossing China in July 2014:

Hallo,

We start the 17th of july entering in China from Laos and exit to Kirjistan, here you can find the route: China Final July-August 2014 on Tripline
Crossing China with your vehicle is not easy and is not cheap because all the paperworks, permission, escort and guide that's why more we are cheap it will be. ith this tour we are allow to sleep in the wild nature, camp and avoid hotels or ugly asphalt parkings. Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events (22 this year!); we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
