Buying in India documentation questions

Hi,
I have a few questions that seem to be only partially answered elsewhere in the HUBB or that the info its years old. I wonder if someone can help me clarify or find up to date info.

What documentation needs to be present when you buy a (used) motorcycle in India?

Any info on how the bike’s registration affects you?
I Think I’ve read somewhere that if you buy/rent a bike in Indian you may no be able to sell it in a different province than where it’s registered. Any other restrictions?

Regarding riding the bike out of India, can the bike be registered legally to you so you could eventually ride back to Europe and import it to your country (European Union)?

Has someone recently arranged a Carnet de Passages for an Indian plate bike in Europe to ride it back from India?
When I was in India The German Adac arranged a Carnet for me but the bike was UK registered. Any idea if you can arrange a carnet for an Indian Enfield?

I understand that to export the bike the bike needs to be registered to you and that dealers may be able to arrange this for a fee. Will dealers offer any help with a second hand bike you bought elsewhere? And, any idea about what they charge?

Any info about Insurance or other potentially /sensitive paperwork / complications?

I will be leaving to India soon. It will be great to have some info to compare with the info I will eventually find. I will post as soon as I know some answers. Meanwhile any help will be most appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
DD

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
