Bokor Hill Station road in Cambodia, open or close?

Hello,
Someone has any info about the road? If it is officially close, anyway to climb at night time?
Thanks!

Hi,
I stayed in Kampot town in Feburary this year and was planning to hire a moto and ride the road; I was told by a few people that it was closed and the only way to get there is a 2 to 3 hour walk. I'm sure if there is a way for tourists to manage on foot it would be possible to do the same on a bike although whether you will be stopped by the police or not who knows.
If you do try to get there please post your experiences as I'll be returning in 4 weeks and would like to try to get there this time; although it may be on foot....

I was there four days ago and it was closed, but supposed to open this week end. basically, the road is open on Khmer holidays, when they don't work on construction. The guy at the bottom is a pain in the ass and doesn't even take the pain to look or speak to you...
If you want to go without your vehicle/bike, lorry drivers take people up and down. You may just have to wait for a bit.

Have just returned from Cambodia and whilst there took a ride up the road....as far as I could get.
The road was closed! Apparantly there's a large hotel complex, casino and golf course being built but I saw little evidence of any building work or movement of vehicles; seemed to be very sleepy and quiet.
I'll be returning there again in January, hopefully they'll be a Khmer holliday when I'm there....

There are millions of similar rides around..

Bokor hill is closed while the road is being paved by the owners who are ruining the old french resort at the the top, then it'll suck- it was fun ride while it lasted... but Cambodia in general, ALL OVER is riders' MECCA!!!

There are rides everywhere so you missing nothin by not doing that little ride up the hill....

Bokor (the mountain) is far too large to climb at night time, and the road is closed at the base of the entry to the area, with armed guards present. The road on the way up is still being rebuilt and is often just dirt or gravel. Might look sleepy outside but theres a LOT of activity inside. By the way, it's actually quite far to the top by road.

The only way by yourself in is if you know someone on the inside.

I managed to get a place on a tour of Bokor including a hike with a ranger and a visit to the hill station. I stayed in Kep and managed to book it through a guy I met at a bar (can't remember the name, but kep is pretty small). Atmospheric at the hill station, mists come and go every few minutes.

You can hire motorcycles at a couple of places in kep.

Here are a couple of pics I took (didn't realise it was such a forbidden area, would have taken more, lol). The whole place is pretty awesome if you're into abandoned places.

This is the hotel; from the top you can see the sea when it's clear. Looks clear now, but mists come and go really quickly.
