Karakorum Highway Pakistan

Has anyone ridden the Karakorum Highway Pakistan recently? Would you consider it safe for a solo rider who plans to be there this summer? Thank you,

Hi,

For a solo traveller it's normally fine, although getting a little dodgy these days. For a solo female traveller, not recommended. Not to say that you WILL have trouble, but you could.

It shouldn't be difficult to hook up with some other travellers though, so keep heading that way and keep reading the HUBB to see who is where and try to connect with them. Also contact the Communities in the area.

Also tell me more about your trip - where on what for how long etc!

Use the feedback form (how to contact HU at the bottom of the page) if you like.

I'll be there in about 5 weeks if you're looking for someone to travel with.
Cheers,

we were there in November and loved it.
Look at our blog if you want to know more: www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/richardandlisa Incredibly friendly hospitable people.
Lots of side roads that are well worth exploring too. Enjoy.

Thank you for your replies. This site is invaluable for research and support! My inquiry was not for me (I wish it were!), but for my boyfriend who is 45 days into his year-long, round-the-world ride. We parted in Kuala Lumpur and he is now in Chiang Mai.

His website, with route and itinerary, is www.whereisstory.net

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
