Tyres in Kathmandu for Africa Twin

I'm looking to pick up new Tyres while in Kathmandu, before I head back into India onward to Assam, Arunchal Pradesh, Bangladesh.

Mixed purpose tyres should do just fine. Wont need knobby ones until I get into Kazakhstan I think.

Any leads much appreciated.

Tyres, like bikes and all other spares are very expensive in Nepal, due to 300 Percent import duty, you could try www.hambrobazaar.com, a sort of Nepali ebay, if your desperate, otherwise I'd wait 'till your back in India for a better choice/price.

Thanks UselessB. A mechanic in India told me to wait until Kathmandu because it would be cheaper and I had some tread left. I guess he was woefully mistaken. Lame.

Other possible option: I'm actually headed back to the US for a wedding, leaving the bike elsewhere while gone.

Would I be allowed to bring tyres back into Nepal on my return trip?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
