Travelling Usbekistan, Turkmenistan, Taijikistan and Kirgisistan

Hi travelling mates,

I´m planning a trip into Zentral Asia on my DR 650. I want to leave my bike back in one of these countries and fly out to Australia without it. Does anybody know with of the four countries would allow to leave the bike back without any husle? (And what I have to arrange?)
I´m starting beginning of August. Which order would you suggest if I want to end up end of November?
thanks for you help!
Save trip for all of you!

In all 4 countries you will get temp. Import Permits for the bike, thats makes it difficult to "forget" the bike when you are leaving. Have that in mind... They have PCs at most bordercrossings and they might be connected as well. So even when the bike is not stamped in your passport they might know about the bike when you try to fly out.

go from the high mountains (Kirgistan, Pamir) to the dessert (Usbekistan, Turkmenistan)

Turkmenistan it is hard to get a individual visa. In 2011 I had to show them the visas for Iran and Usbekistan ahead, to get a short 3day transitvisa...

Have fun

Hi Heiko,

I just thought that. Well I have to think about it what to do! Got a message from somebody who lives in Kirgsistan. Maybe he can help me there!

I,m comming through Turkmenistan and Uspekistan so I can arrive in the Pamir region beginning of October. Do you think this is too late!

Hi Heiko. You may be right about 3 countries who have temp. import permits. Kyrgyzstan does NOT have anything like it. We have present 5 bikes stored and the guys flew out of country without being asked about the bikes.

Hi Patrik,

thanks for the interesting informations. (Thanks to Heiko, too!)
Good news that there is no visa and no temp. import permit. That´s what I hoped to find in one of the 4 stans!
So Kirgyztan is the deal for me!
I can store the bike there and come back later or wreck it if nessesarry.
I had to find these infos one and a half years ahead because my sabbatical starts August 2014 and depending on the I have to do my other plannings. ( And by that time there will be visas for Asarbajan and Turkmenistan only!)
If´ve got 4 months for my trip from Germany via the Caucasia to the STANS. This should be allright still arriving at the Pamir as soon as possible!

Hope to keep in touch with you!
(had a look at you website muztoo.com....great trips!
safe trips

Roland
