Asian weather patterns

Howdy, I'd like to ride from Melbourne to the Isle of Man TT in 2007. It starts late May. I'd like to ride through Southeast Asia. Could someone point out a good time period to travel? I'd rather not learn how to ride through snow (maybe later). There's no planned route yet.

Thanks, Dave

April/May in Europe should be OK. Snow falls at that time in Germany are not uncommon, but it won't be much and the roads will be cleared quickly. You are just as likely to have 15 to 20 C and much more likely to have some wet weather there.

S Italy and Greece at that time is spring and it should be magic, with flowers everywhere. Much nicer than summer.

The only area where I can see a problem is Anatolia/N Iran. There have been posts on the subject, so have a poke around the HUBB. I think it will be OK.

The rest of your trip will be in hotter climes, so no problem there. India should be purrfect in Winter. I was in Kathmandu for Xmas and it was well above freezing, we camped in Pokhara and it was warm in the plains.

Have fun and I may see you on the road, going the other way!

Thanks.

I'm an American, so I don't think I'll be allowed to ride through Iran. I'd love to, and I had some plans to go with a friend of mine, but I don't think it's going to be allowed.

Oops.

Then you will have to ship via the Middle East (no climate worries there) or take the Northern Route through the Stans. I think it'll be too early for that.
