An eyeopening photo-tale of Chernobyl

It's been a while since I've posted but came across this on a climbing site recently and thought that if you haven't seen it here at HU, it's certainly a powerful presentation.

Yea, really - she won't need a reflective vest at night, her tires will glow in the dark.

What a story. Fantastic photos. Very poignant, makes me wonder what this catastrophy has done to US? (without our knowing) Anyone fancy grabbing some cheap real estate - you'd sell it in about 900 yrs or so and make a bundle! (is that what they call FORWARD thinking, or what?)

Seriously, wasn't this young lady at some risk during this venture?
I appreciate she is knowledgable but that would not make her immune, would it!
Cheers Oletimer (George)

Kind of a scary thought! Actually if you know what you are doing around radation and keep an eye on the levels, the danger is minimal. You absorb raditstion every day from natural elements. A prime example is bannanas that have a lot of potassium (K). A percent of K is potassium 40, a radioactive element. This is an example of natural radiation. Also many people believe that if you are exposed to radiation, you become radioactive. That is not true. If that were the case you wout become radioactive from an x-ray at the MD. What high levels of radiation does is damage the cells in your body. Its to complex to get into here. Saying that, would I ride around there? Oh hell no, I would probably dump my bike and land in contaminated dirt!
