Aluminum welder in Bangkok?

Hi,

Anyone knows aluminum welder in Bangkok?
I have touratech Zega Pro panniers which are too soft to my liking. Would like to get a bit thicker plate welded to the backside of the panniers.

Original ones get dented if you look them a bit longer...

I also need to find welder who can weld silencer mounting point in my R1200GS. It has cracked in few points due to vibrations and couple exhaust contacts to the ground...

AL Welding & Crack repair

Aluminium is best welded with TIG using an AC / DC rectifier set to weld on AC.

This is seriously important as DC will destroy the panier. Extra plates could be welded (tacked in using MMA /Sitck welding) if the proper consumable is used. Take care to remove the slag from this process, as it will corrode the metal.

MIG again can be used, with no serious damage.

Get the plates tacked in this will increase the rigidity.

Get the guy to demonstrate his skill prior to AL welding.
The exhaust fracture, TIG, MIG, NOT MMA or stick, it will burn through and leave you in more trouble than you went in with. Let me know how you fare, I'm a welding engineer, Cheers & Good luck

Hi,

Have you thought of two-component adhesives (in German: Karosseriekleber) for your paniers?
Just glue the aditional plates inside the boxes.
That schould help.

The owner of Dynamic Motors is verry helpfull, and can connect you with the workshops you need. And he is BMW mecanic, if you need a service or someting else.

Greetings Heiko

Thekensportler,

Thanks for the coordinates.
I have also heard about this dynamic motors. He should also be able to do bmw service. Will check this place when I am in BKK. Thanks!

Beemer76,
This gluing could be another option. I do not know how it will hold when I drop the bike...
What I have noticed with TT Zega Pro cases is that right side pannier is really easy to be bended. It will bend from the inside when hitting the bracket.

Visited Dynamic Motors in Bangkok and have to give credit for those guys.
People were really nice and I think they can fix anything over there, so highly recommend their shop.

They also told me that they can arrange tires.
