Voltage converters and travel plugs for people from the UK

In the UK our Voltage is 230V 50 Hz, but where I am going to varies from 220v to 110v.

01) If I get a step up converter to allow me to run UK 220v equipment on 120v, is this also OK for 110v?

02) Can you use standard 230v equipment on 220v grid with out a converter?

03) Is there a piece of travel kit that can cope with different voltages?

Argentina 220V 50 Hz
Chile 220V 50 Hz
Bolivia 220/230V* 50 Hz *La Paz & Viacha 115V
Peru 220V* 60 Hz* *Talara 110/220V; Arequipa 50 Hz
Ecuador 120-127V 60 Hz
Colombia 110V 60Hz
Panama 110V* 60 Hz *Panama City 120V
Costa Rica 120V 60 Hz
Nicaragua 120V 60 Hz
Honduras 110V 60 Hz
El Salvador 115V 60 Hz
Honduras 110V 60 Hz
Belize 110/220V 60 Hz
Nicaragua 120V 60 Hz
Guatemala 120V 60 Hz
Mexico 127V 60 Hz
USA 120V 60 Hz
Canada 120V 60 Hz

Link to all other voltages by country:

Thanks.

Will this do?

This is the type of thing available on ebay, will this do for anything around 120v?

1 - Yes it should be OK. The voltage in most countries varies slightly. The convertor however could be a heavy (weight) transformer depends on the current you want it to deliver.

2 - Yes, if it was an AC motor it would run marginally slower, so a razor would be OK

3 - Some things run on various voltages. For instance the charger for my mobile will run on 100 - 240 volts AC / 50 - 60 Hz. check out the equipment, it is usually printed onit.

The market is full of kit that will run on 12 volts DC or can be recharged - off the bike system.

Yes - as long as the equipment does not exceed the 100W power limit.
