Ushuaia in July?

Has anyone ridden to Ushuaia in July? Is it really impossible or just really uncomfortable?

I am planning a trip from Venezuela to Argentina next summer (07) and wondered how far south I could expect to get without freezing to death or being blown from the road. I am hoping to get at least to Comodoro Rivadaria before parking the bike for four months and heading to the ski slopes and then back to work. My plan is to return to celebrate Christmas in Ushuaia but it might be fun to push through in July or it might be suicidal. You tell me.

Most any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Susan

There's a community in Rio Grande who will doubtless know the answer.

Yep... It is almost too cold and snowy now... Just left there a few weeks ago and the rains (cold) and snow are already hitting the area!

I`ve been in Ushuaia last week (this time by car,no bike) and the weather was Very cold, the Garibaldi pass was already covered by ice and had to use "nailed tires" in the car. maybe it`s possible , but be prepeared to suffer a little bit.
regards.

Thanks for the info. I will try and contact those folks in Rio Grande and see what they say. Catching a bit of skiing is looking more and more attractive.

Cheers
Susan
