Trying to buy a bike in Santiago

Hello all,

Ive been reading some posts from the others regarding buying bikes out here, if anyone knows of any machines for sale right now in Santiago, or surrounding areas please let me know. Looking for a decent overlander in Santiago now. Something like a 95-05 Transalp, Africa Twin, BMW F650, Tenere, KLR 650 etc.... ideally with Pannier Racks, boxes not important as have soft luggage.

We´re staying in Barrio Brasil, SMS to +44 7980 571 375 or mail davecaygill(at)gmail.com. I´ll also check in on this post in a couple of days.

Any advice on shops/streets appriciated, I´ve been to Calle Liro and San Isidro, but only found a ocuple of maybe´s... Anyone know of anyother good dealers in Santiago?

Also trawling internet..

btw regarding the RUT - I asked a government tourist advice fella at the airport, and he seemed pretty sure that all you would need is the reciept from the dealer to leave the country? is this true? Ive seen lots of posts saying the RUT is required...

Cheers,

Dave

FIND A MOTORCYCLE

Maybe lira but has you say there are few 600´s.

Neewspaper( El Mercurio, Saturday edition) and www.chileautos.cl is a better option ( i just saw a KLr 02 for US$6000)

Also check www.allmoto.cl

YOU MUST OBTAIN your RUT (ID) TO BUY A MOTORCICLE:
In order to obtain your RUT you need:
1- Your passport

2- Pay the fee ( i dont know how much)

3-A copy of your passport
3.1Identification page,
3.2 Expirign of the passport page,
3.3Expiring of the visa to enter Chile,
3.4 copy of the Form filled to enter to chile)
If you wanna see this info, check http://www.registrocivil.cl/f_cedula.html

The office in wich you can do this is located at

Pasaportes y Extranjería
The Street is:
Moneda n° 1342
( To get there Take the "Line 1" of the Metro travel to MONEDA STATION, from there you are 2 block from the office) the phone number of the office is 696-0402 or 697-0403

The office only opens from Monday to Friday ( from 8:30 to 14pm).
