Visiting Chile

Hi friends,

I live here in Curico, a town 200 km south of Santiago de Chile, and I would be proud to meet RTW travelers.

Please don't hesitate to contact me at "link above" and at least you will eat a good "asado" at home with some Chilean friends.

Greetings,

Jose Pedro

Jose,
I will be riding from El Paso, TX to Panama in mid March. I am considering crossing over to South America and was wondering what the riding conditions would be going from Bogota to Santiago April ? I was looking for weather, avg temp.,rainfall and road conditions.

The weather in April in Santiago is the start of the winter, with low temperatures and cloudy days, probably some rains. About temperatures, today the web site of the Metereological is not working to see the historical data, this site is www.meteochile.cl Anyway you will find temperatures around 18°C max and 7°C min. with a lot of variability.

The road is completly paved in the Chilean territory, and I undestant is the same in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Please contact the Comunity in Colombia in this site.
Please visit Colombia, if you travel following some criteria you will never regret to visit one of the most beautiful countries in the region, and the Colombians are people really friendly, more that any other in Latin America.

The Chilean north is very dry and the distances are very long. From La Serena the landscape change turning more green and more littles towns. But for me the best of the country is the south, from Temuco to Puertto Montt, in special the lakes region.

Please stay in contact to help you more. In this site you can find my email in my profile.

Will be a plesure to help you visiting my country

Jim,

I'm in Curicó now. My vacations are finished.

I tried again to send you and email, but again it failed.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
