similar site/forum for 4 wheels?

Folks,
I used this site when doing my trip from Dublin to Dakar a few months back and found spot-on for the info and feedback. I'm now looking t oplan a trip (very soon) to N C & S Amercia with the family with 4 (minimum) wheels. I've looked around for a similar site with only limited luck. Suggestions?

The big questions I need to answer are:
- How feasible would it be to do the trip in an American style camper
- How do I deal with "The Gap"?
- What paperwork do I really need for the vehicle

There are 4 of us (wife and 2 daughters 10 & 12) and I need to sell them a level of comfort. I was thinking of somthing like this: NEW 2010 FOUR WINDS 5000 23A CLASS C MOTORHOME JE:eBay Motors (item 290381825739 end time Dec-22-09 12:30:00 PST)
but not quite so new.

On the "Gap" issue - We are really most interested in seeing North Amercia and then Peru, Bolivia, Chile - so a boat route anywhere from Mexico to Panama would be under consideration.

Many thanks for any pointers.

you can use this site for all S-C-N america info and the 4 wheel section on the HIBB for specific 4 wheel matters.

For South America a 2 wheel drive will do (except for a few routes which can be avoided), but be sure to have a vehicle with some good groundclearance unless you dont mind getting out of the car when doing gravelroads....

Ok - So it looks like an ordinary RV with decent ground clearance will be ok. But what options (routes & shippers) would people recommend for getting such a vehicle to (and from) South America?

Thanks Ian
