Shipping Bike to Brazil or Buy New Bike

I am hoping to ship my bike from Cape Town to Brazil and then ride it to the US. But I am getting mixed reviews on wether brazil allows used bikes into the country when they come in by air. Does anybody have any experience with this. Or would I be better off to sell my bike and buy another one in Brazil.

Just do not ship it there by sea!
That will be a lot of troubles and expensive to get it out!
Bikes in Brasil are much more expensive than in Europe or in the US.
About douple price and used ones are even more!
I would fly the bike in or ship it to Argentina!

I shipped one bike to Brasil, never again!
It is posted und the shipments!

My recommendations would be to send it to Buenos Aires which is a 3 day ride from south of Brasil and let Dakar Motos help you getting it out of customs etc. which they have done many many times. This the easiest thing to do.
And I think you can find a lot of info from other HU members on companies that do Cape Town - BsAs.

if you need help in Brasil i highly recommend contacting the Master of of the city where you'll be arriving from this group www.brazilriders.com.br

good luck!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
