Strike of the RUToffice in Santiago

Hello friends,

I am in Mendoza and desperately looking for buying a bike to travel North to Colombia. As it is hard to buy one in Argentina, we wanted to go to Santiago to buy one but heard the office giving the RUT has been on strike for 2 weeks...

Does anyone have an altrenative idea/place to go to buy a bike?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Gloria and Sebastien

Hi, I recall reading on a forum thread somewhere that the RUT number is no longer required for tourists, instead they use your passport number. Don't know if it is true but maybe check with a dealer?

Please let me know how you go as I am headed there in December

RUT / Passport Number

Thanks for your reply on both questions!

Yes I read the same on the forum (saying that the passport number is used instead). However I suppose a document is issued by the office or another office containing your passport number?

I ll look further into that and post the answer as soon as I find it.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
