Route through Brazil
 

Hi, Im currently in southern Argentina heading north and will be in Buenos Aires in roughly 2-3 weeks. I've decided to add Brazil to my trip. However, at this point I have absolutely no clue what a good route through Brazil would be going north. No maps or travel books yet either. All I do know is that once I reach the Amazon river, I want to travel by boat to Manaus and then travel north from there to Venezuela.

Looking for any information, suggestions, links, especially concerning the amazon boat trip.

Two years ago I went with my friend Phillipe, next to 60° meridian, from Junin (Buenos Aires) to Venezuela, crossing Paraguay and Brazil. All the route is paved. We hit Porto Velho, on the Madeiras River and shiping 3 days to Manaos (about 200 dollar you and the bike). Then, all route to Venezuela.

Thanks for the tip. About the ferries, is it just a matter of showing up a port and looking for a shipper? Have yet to find anything online.

oooohh no... nothing of shipper. You hit the dock and if you have luck the ferry is moored there (2 departure each week). Then, you agree the price´s ticket with the captain and they put your bike in the hold. You must buy an hammock (20 dollar) and looking the jungle for 3 days

There is a very interesting road from Porto Velho via Humantia(sp?) to Manuas BR319 that would be worth looking into if you are going that way. Best to get up to date information in country to find out the status of all the bridges. This would allow you to ride to Manuas with a lot of fuel and then cross the new bridge and ride to Boa Vista and out to Vnzl.

I am very interesting in running this road sometime this year. Let us know what you decide.
