If you have camping gear try this site Web Camping They have several places listed I stayed at the CCB place a couple of times but I think you may have to be a member. If not try one of the several Love Motels but be ready for mirrors on the ceiling and a lot of noise all night plus you can only stay up to 6 hours. If you stay less you pay by the hour!
Hope this helps. Rio is a great city and Maracana is a very large stadium.
If you plan on comng to Mex City send me a PM.

Hello Paul,
Rio is a fantastic place. I stayed there also and found a very nice place quite near the copacabana beach. It is called the "Newtons roof top" and is a back-packers hotel. Quite cheap and offers sat-TV in the mainroom as well as free Internet (1 Computer for all). Newton speeks also English as I belive to remember. The Maracana stadion is great, you can get there with the buses (dont ride by bike if you do not know where it is, you will maybe get lost). Try the fantastic juices at the juicebars. In case it is hot try ACAI, an icy drink (I used to love it).

Food you will find near down the road in a 24h Pao de Acugar-Store.

Depends what kind of Bike you have Newton, the guy how owns it, even allows you to parks your bike within the lower floor. Well for my bike it did not work since it was to wide.

Well but in case you it does not work, there are two parkings just next to his place. When standing in front of the hostal (hostal in the back) cross the street and turn left. cross the little street, there is a little mall with a parking. well it is quite expensive. So we asked the parking house (you will find when following the little street you just crossed bevor). At the next corner cross the street and there you are. normaly the guy just lets the spaces just for months, but he makes exeptions. Be kind and nice and maybe it works also for you.

here is the direction:

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
