Planning & Preparation Tools for a South American Motorcycle Adventure

This is a collection of links to sites I found helpful when planning before and during our bike trip in South America so I thought I'd share them in case not yet known. Some sites are clearly in Spanish, but since you're planning to bike around S.Am. you'll be learning that pretty quickly and using google translate to help in the interim
Will add more to the list if I find any.

Brazil: I'm told that the Guia Quatro Rodas map book is good and available at some service stations.
Venezuela: Found reasonable maps at reasonable prices at Pousada Monica, Santa Elena de Uairen.

Cost Budgeting Tools:

Research for South American Ride

2fortheroad..... Thank you for your world class research effort. This ain't my first rodeo and I find your research most informative.

I am sure many others will also benefit from your effort.

I look forward to your continued research and will check for your updates.

I am especially thankful for your border crossing information - and the fact that you have included web sites in Spanish.

Welcome to the HUBB please post often.....

Excellent!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
