new tyers in Chili/argentinia

We need to chance tyres in about 1000/1500 km . We are goiing North (chili/argenita)

Where can we go to chance the tyrers from GS 1150 BMW & F 650 GS?
I know Chili is the cheapest option, so IF possible we are looking for advise in the northpart of chili, starting from SERENA.
(going back to Santiago is not an option)

thanks for your help!

I haven't had any trouble finding tyres but then I've only bought one set (in Tucuman) and literally the first place I tried had some in stock. Then again my bike has standard dirt bike sized wheels, if you've got unusual sized GS wheels then things may be a bit more difficult.
Is spending another day in Santiago really that bad? (Actually, if you'd have asked me that a week ago I'd probably have said "Yes!").
Best of luck and PM me if you get stuck and I'll give you co-ords in Santiago.

Dunc.

Or here's a thought: buy your tyres in Santiago over the phone and have them sent up to where you are by UPS. There _shouldn't_ be too many difficulties if they're not crossing an international border.

Note: I haven't tried doing this and have no idea how expensive it would be.

thanks for the tips,

can you be a little bit more specific with "Tucuman". When I put it in Google maps, they show me a street in Santiago????

San Miguel de Tucuman. About 1000km north east of you.

It might be worth contacting these guys in La Serena

::::::::::::TONINOMOTOS::::::::::

I got the chain on my vstrom replaced there last week. They specialize in Japanese makes but might have tyres for your BMWs as they had quite a few midsized to larger touring/adv bikes(transalp, vstrom, caponord) on the showroom floor.

They are on Balmaceda #1461, La Serena, 5 minutes from the downtown area.

I am sure you are sorted by now but just in case others look at this thread.

I just got a new rear for my GS1200 in Calama. I was told that I would have a better chance here than in Antofagasta & they were correct.

The name of the shop is Calama Firma at the corner of Abaroa & Felix Hoyos (in the middle of town).

They specialise in motocross stuff but had a good selection of tyres - I had the choice of 3 so went with the Metzler Karhoot (or some such name) They recommended it as a good 50/50 tyre.
I needed it so I didn't ask the price, best part was US$110 - fitted! Nice guys so I bought them a case of beers.

Cheers
Delb
