New Canadian traveller to Chile
 

I am new to this form and to travelling to South America. I am from Canada and have an opportunity to travel to and in Chile for 3-4 months starting jan 2010, I will be based about 1200 km south of santiago. I drive a r1200rt in canada and have a couole of questions, will the r1200rt be correct for chile or would I be better off with a 1200gs , or an F800gs, I will be taking a passenger wherever i go as well as some light camping equipment. arfe there amy other canadians going to be in the area during that time? and are there any must see points and or cautions I should be aware of? should I buy a bike down there or drive it down ?
