Smile needed : Latin American media names & info if possible please

Hello all........... i am hoping that some of you that are riding through latin america, or those who have and you residents , might be able to help me out by knowing the names of and have any info about mainly, Local newspapers and even local TV stations down there ? I have some names of Bolivian papers who i am contacting, but elsewhere is proving difficult to get. The reason is because i am (from this august) riding the popular AK to TDF route, trying to keep off the panamerican as much as possible. I have a niece with Fragile X Syndrome to a full degree and thought that while im loving my own adventure i hope to spread some awareness about the syndrome. I have some contacts along the route, people involved with the syndrome, but there isnt alot of knowledge down there regarding this. So in my naivity im hoping i can help them out by gaining some very important awareness. Also this has given me extra direction for the trip on a personal level. I have found that here in the UK, its almost impossible to get mentioned in the larger well know media types, but the lower grade mags and tv stations, are interested. So in reality i hope to get the attention of the smaller publications in central and south america. Maybe they might be interested in an englishman riding down through their provinces, it might be a story for them. I know this is a very popular route and seeing english blokes on bikes isnt a new thing , but i have to try. Maybe some of you have connections ?

cheers for reading this far ! Simon

I can't give you any specific contacts, but I think you will be able to get air time if your spanish is up to date!

No spanish, and it will be difficult for you to even find the people you need to convince.

I was interviewed for a local radio station in colombia, but it was kinda embarrasing since my spanish is very very basic.

The fact that south america has more radiostations than any other continent (source needed) will help. Radiostations always need things to talk about, so keep up the studies and I think it will be possible/easy!

Most towns seem to have their local TV stations over there, even smallish towns. When getting in towns go to see them, dont bother with emails. They are normally happy to interview you. Same with local papers and radios. We got interviewed few times.
Make sure you speak good spanish by then, you will get so much more out of your trip! People will love to speak to you, but they dont speak english usually!
