Motorcycle shops Argentina
I am currently in Ushuaia and have just blown a fork seal (BMW F650GS Dakar) that is leaking badly, does anyone know a good repair shop either in Ushuaia or on the atlantic coast heading north through Argentina.
Cheers Geoff ------------------ In South America and heading to Tierra Del Fuego ETA Feb 06

Contact Javier at Dakar Motos in BsAs. Cash on delivery works in Argentina so he could post them to you.
As an alternative, seals for the Honda Africa Twin (XRV750) are the same size and work well - and easier to find than BMW parts. ------------------ Last seen in S.America, missing presumed fed. http://www.smellybiker.com [This message has been edited by Happy Hacker (edited 23 February 2006).] |

Geoff,
best have a look at the "repair shops around the world" forum, there's loads of recommendations! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000095.html http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000114.html http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000094.html Obviously you are not the only one with leaking fork oil, but you can probably go thousands of km without or with very little fork oil: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000697.html Best regards Winfried

Geoff,
Fellow traveler Sacha wrote the following: "The Address (in Buenos Aires) of BMW is Cabrera 3698 and their phone number is 48665727." But, he added: "I would recomend going to Dakar Motos though as they are very cool and cheaper and will give you tons of personal attention. There are usually a few riders staying there at the shop and its very family oriented feel." Good luck! (After Ushuaia and Buenos Aires, I am back in Santiago, investigating shipping the bike home!) We got an oil change only from a guy called Victor Kovimchich in Rio Grande at Piedrabuena no 2214. However, we were seriously impressed by his really clean workshop and his attention to detail - he has his own ancient BMW and does all the mechanics for all the local motorcross riders. If you are still in the area I am sure he would try to help. We would trust him.
