Getting from South America to New Zealand by Air?

Hey Mates!
I have recently finished my motorcycle trip through the Americas. I am back home and trying to find out a cheap way to take myself from Santiago, Chile or another part of South America, to New Zealand, and then on to Australia. Any information on airlines, travel agents, and roughly what it would cost would be great. Also any ideas on if it would be cheaper to buy it a ticket in South America somewhere? I have heard it might be cheaper to get to Easter Island then onto New Zealand....
Thanks for the help guys!

Hey Cruthas, I think the cheapest airline would be 'aerolineas argentinas' which fly to New Zealand. Try the site Cheap Hotels - Search for Hotel Reservations, Deals & Rooms - Wego.com it's pretty good.

Aerolineas Argentinas has a ridiculously cheap return fare from NZ to BA at the moment, from memory about $1100 (NZ) (about $600 US) return.

I flew Lan Chile last November because of the rumours about the demise of Aero Arg.

I've just had a quote of NZ$2400 to fly my DR650 from Auckland to LA with QANTAS. About 220 kgs. There will also be additional charges in LA but don't know what they are.

I bought flight tickets about two weeks ago from Santiago to Aukland (return, will only use one way) and paid US$2400 for two people (both) with LAN Chile. They are having a special at the moment. Go to their office and ask them for the special rates. However, the flight is only in July.

Bike will go to Melbourne via air (US$2000) or Sea (US$1200). must still decide.

Can give you the contacts for the shipping companies if you want.
