Motorcycle Parking Rio De Janeiro
 

Hey All,

I'm headed down to Rio for an exchange program for six months. I have already arranged for a motorcycle in Rio, but I'm kind of wondering what the overnight parking situation is in Rio. I will be staying at a homestay for the first month and I'm pretty sure that they won't have parking facilities. Are there garages for motos in Rio? How much do they cost? Are there monthly rates? Is it safe to leave the bike parked on the street? I just bought a heavy duty disk lock and chain, so I am thinking as a last resort park in on the street every night attached to something big. Any thoughts or experiences that you may have would be greatly appreciated.

I don't live in Rio de Janeiro, but, as at many others big cities, I DO NOT believe that parking your bike in the street is a good idea (thieves). For sure you will find somewhere to park it, and - at least reasonable prices (under US$50,00 a month).

I found parking for motorcycles at about 151 Rua Bento Lisboa near the Largo do Machado metro station in Rio de Janeiro. Last year after carnival they quoted me R$100/month I think. I may park there for the next month or two. beer:palm:
