Motorbike Driving licence in Chile/Argentina

Hi,
Unfortunately waiting for a driving licence exam and then waiting for printing new driving licence in Poland takes about 6 weeks and we arranged our trip more spontaneusly...
Me and my wife are landing in BsAs and after few days are going to Santiago, Chile, where we're planning to get 2 125cc for visiting Patagonia and then up to Bolivia and Peru.
We've finished motorcycle driving training and have B (car) driving licence for >5 yrs.
We've heard somewhere, that obtaining a motorbike driving licence is possible for foreigners either in Argentina (in ~3 days) or Chile - has anybody any experience with this?
Thanks for answers!

Chile license

Not possible in Chile, you have to show proof of residence in the comuna you go for testing, as well as proof of a grade 8 education.

Hi,
we've started the process in Buenos Aires. As foreigners we brought Passports and Certificate from police, that we live in BsAs (got in 1 day, we stay at friend's place, but it's possible from hostel as well). Thursday was for tests, Friday for 3hrs of classes and exam (theoretical and practical) is supposed to be on Monday. The only problem is that we have to pass it on our own motorbikes - can either bring or rent one at place
When we will get through everything will definitely write something more detailed on our blog.
Hope it will work on Monday...

Hi, I looked at your blog and your trip looks amazing.

I was just wondering whether you managed to extend you motorbike driving licence you got in Buenos Aires- as they are only valid for 3 months aren't they?

Just so you are aware, three of us just went thru the entire purchase process in Chile for motorcycles. At no point did we ever have to show our drivers licenses (we even had international ones too, but never got asked). We did however, have to show our passports. We even had 2 random checks by police and never showed our licenses then either. I am sure it is illegal to ride a bike without an actual motorcycle license, but it wont hinder you from buying, registering and insuring a bike in Chile (or entering Argentina)

True but it would invalidate your insurance should you need to claim or worse, if you caused damage to someone else and the police got involved. I'm sure loads of people do it but it is a risk worth considering.
