Lost motorbike papers in CO
 

In one of my most boneheaded manuvers ever, I have managed to lose my Chilean motorbike registration (Padron) in the airport on the way down here. I have a B&W photocopy of this doc & copies of the previous podron, the power of attourney letter, an an original of the Notario cantract with the seller (my name is only on the padron copy & the poa document).

I am now in CO & plan to exit soon, I will need to cross into EC & PE on my way back to CH & had hoped to make a quick trip to VE. I am trying to assess what my chances/options are at this point. I could try to get new papers sent from CH, but this will take time & may be costly. It has been suggest that I visit a notaria & file a notarized loss of papers report. Finally, I am an expert level pShop/Illustrator users & given time & a decent output device could make something quite convincing. this seems like a good way to have my world come crashing down upon me, but I know others have done it.

What kind of luck do you think I might have travelling on copies? The Notario idea?

Notario would be my recommendation to start - at least then it looks like you've made an attempt to be legitimate and "do the right thing". You also have copies of the original documents - of which I'd make a few more! It won't be the first or the last time someone loses papers.

No. Maybe I've got to pay more attention to abbreviations and acronyms, but I'm just home from various continents and scores of countries, and I'm quite happy not getting out for a while.

I've almost certainly been to all the places indicated within the past year or two....but I still don't know where they are. Nor, I'll wager, do 90% of those reading the thread. I'll gladly pay up if proven wrong: cold beers in your new hometown.

These acronyms are new to me but at a wild guess:

CO - Colombia
EC - Ecuador
PE - Peru
CH - Chile
VE - Venezuela

I'm gathering I need to learn to text more, type less. Or maybe I just need to source a younger, more flexible brain.

I didn't mean to make a deal out of it: I was just amused that the OP included so many known and unknown abbreviations (B&W doc poa CO EC PE CH VE pShop). I'm a native English speaker, and I found it confusing. And I'd probably have skipped the whole thread had it not appeared to me that the OP was asking about lost Colorado documents. I apologize, OP, for the thread drift.

Anyone know a gentle, non-invasive, insurance-reimbursable aid to neurological adaptability?

The country abbreviations are official world wide & frequently used down here. They are commonly used in addresses, promotional collateral and tourism websites. Apologies though, Chile is CL & CH appears to be Switzerland. B&W is at least known to all photographers & graphic designers, if not others & pShop comes from 20+ years of teaching said software.

I am a slow typist & suffer from severe computer related repetitive strain injuries, thus every key stroke saved is a key stroke earned.

I could not find an open notaria today & Monday is a holiday. I will take my chances & head Cartegena and try to sort it up there. The airlines have found my missing docs & I now need to get them shipped to here. Is FedEx or DHL better for CO? Any good idea of an adress that I can have em sent to in Cartegena?

I have an Argentinian plated XR250 Tornado being stored in my terrace at the moment, the owners bought it in Colombia from some other travelers, went to the notaria, had some forms made and then rode it here without problems, so I think you should have no problems either.
