Knobbly suppliers Peru or North Chile??
Hi all

Can anyone advise of anywhere to buy following tyres in Lima southwards or Northern Chile.

TKC80, or 66 Michelin
or
Metz or Pirelli - Rear - 150/70/17 and Front - 110/80/19

This is for an 1150GS. Hopefully we will be back on the road soon as we are stuck in Trujillo waiting for parts still, but do have help now from a local person in Lima trying to get our goods out of Customs thanks to a contact from Horizons. Here's hoping - would be great to get on the road again as time is passing.

For TKC-80 contact Motouring - Inicio web They are in Santiago but maybe they can forward the tires to you.

The KTM shop in Lima can get TKCs. They are expensive though. I think you will do fine with tourances or the pirelli mt 60s for Peru and Chile. (And the MT 60s are available everywhere, you will just have to wait a day or 2 for a massive one for your 1150.) You don't 'need' knobbies unless your doing Bolivia in the rainy season. Even then, you could stay on paved roads for a few days.

I got stuck in Trujillo with a leaking water pump. I really enjoyed my time there. Stop by Casa Novios La Veronica. (Pizzaro 671 Interior #2B
) It's a few blocks from plaza. It's a wedding company. The owners really helped me out when I was there. (Not with a marriage, with fixing my water pump.) Just introduce yourself and ask about any sights you should see while you are there. Tell them Jeff from Canada says Hi.

Just called Solo Moto, Miraflores Lima and talked to the Manager. He said you cannot get the TKC there. Is there another KTM dealer in Lima ?

Nope, that is the one I was at. I remember seeing one there and thinking it was the first time I had seen one in awhile. Maybe someone brought it in to have mounted...

The Pirelli MT90's are available in alot of places as well. You can probably buy 2 or 3 Pirellis (MT 60 or 90) for the price you will have to pay for a TKC down there. Where are you going, 2 up, on a loaded 1150 GS that you will NEED TKC's? In Bolivia, I rode with a fellow on a Vstrom 1000 running the 60's. He was pretty happy with them and the tires made it to Ushuaia and back to BA. (He had them installed in La Paz at the Honda dealer.)

I don't remember exactly - and I don't have the GPS coordinates. I gave away my SA travel book that had my notes in it... I can tell you that I stayed in a place right in the Plaza behind the jail. The honda dealer was within walking distance. However, I am not sure that they know what a Goldwing is. The biggest bike they had was a 250. I suggest that if you have to do a big service on that bike that you do it in Colombia, Chile or Argentina. Brazil should be OK too, but I have not been there.

Enjoy your trip, be careful in Mexico, the speed bumps (topes) are a killer.

Thanks a lot. We meet the guys from Lima-Moto-Club. Nice people who helped us to find new Pireilli´s and get a place to make an oilchange.

Got the tires at Honda-Desert Dealer.
