Hey mate I'm heading to Argentina in Feb 09.
I'm looking at getting a bike to tour round on,
But I need to squeeze two ppl on the bike,
(I'm 6ft but only weigh 69kg, and a girl on the back)

I'm thinking the KLR650 won't be quite big enough?

Plan on touring South America for about a year on what I buy...

It looks like a nice bike - can it handle 2 ppl?

Harley,

I weigh more than you and ride a KLR. I installed a 560lb rear spring and 1" raising links to compensate for the weight of two riders and gear.

You could get yourself a new(er) shock with the heavier spring and install it in 30 mins. You can get the raising links from Eagle Mike in the US and install in less than 15 mins.

Just a thought.

Good luck.

1996 klr650 for sale with 45,000 miles

I'm in B.A. with a beat up 96 klr...she's pretty to me and she's done the job with a couple of spills but nothing too bad. If you are looking for cheap, I'd entertain $1,500, comes with happy trail side boxes and the larger after market 6.6gal gas tank.

The only problem is the speedometer/odometer went out down in Comodoro Rivadavia and i haven't bothered to fix it since they didn't have the part there (not the cable) and I didn't know what i was going to do with the bike here...an easy fix for sure.

The bike has travelled all of central and south america 15,000miles with no problems and has regular oil changes every 3,000m.

I'm planning on leaving B.A. in about two weeks. If you are interested email me at masqaroda@yahoo.com and I'll share pics.
