Kidnapped in Colombia on Motorcycle - On TV tonight 9pm (UK)

Channel 5, 9pm

"Banged up abroad"

Story of a guy kidnapped in Colombia whilst travelling through on his bike..

Should be interesting.

so what happened?

let us know some details please !
Am in colombia at the moment, dying to bump into the farc (hoping a good kidnapping will exonerate me from paying last years taxes which are due tomorrow back home - all monies due having obviously been reinvested wisely here in south america :mchappy: )

cheers

People want to believe; therein lies the key.

There's little need and demand for the truth these days.

How true

Especially on TV, and especially in the UK at present.

All of the major UK TV channels have been caught "cheating" and deceiving the public, and that word is being kind to them - in most cases the public have lost money as a result, and police investigations are needed if only because the TV moguls don't have the balls to discipline themselves.

In Colombia as well, I'll start looking for some headlines.
Haven't heard anything here.....

MikeS 30 Oct 2007 16:38

...erm, he got kidnapped about 5 or 6 years ago if I remember right

Tedmagnum,

please, lets try not to raise blood pressure here. I ask that you word these things a little more carefully.

(we don't get UK advertisements here)

Jeff

....5 or 6 years ago is a long time here....
is this about the Helgstadd fellow?

MikeS 30 Oct 2007 17:33

Yep, its was about him. Thought you sounded a little concerned! Colombia was one of my favorite countries and as long as you're sensible, you'll be fine i.e. only daylight riding, stick to main routes etc etc but you'll know all that anyway.

Im planning to ride to Medellin. Not sure which route but it will be from the South, probably from Equador.

Any info you have about Colombia etc, I would love to hear it.

Thanks

People DO want to believe Columbia is in turmoil. USA Today (probably the biggest newspaper in the US) had a story today about Chiquita Banana Coca Cola being fined/etc for paying bribes to right wing/left wing terrorist organizations.......for the right to do business in Columbia.

MikeS 31 Oct 2007 15:17

Think that story about Chiquita was doing the rounds when we were in ColOmbia back in March.

It is possible that Colombia is a great country to visit and still be a country in great turmoil.

I can't believe this doesn't just happen in the US!
