Help with steering issues in Columbia?

I've got some serious steering problems with my 2008 KLR650. I'm thinking/hopping it's the steering bearings but I'm a bit nervous to work on them myself. Anyone in Columbia available to help and/or know a good bearing house that could help fix the problems. I'll buy the . I'm currently in Cartagena and hopping to get this fixed soon before riding the fun mountain roads south but would travel to where ever there's good help.

You can contact me directly at dunters@gmail.com or via the HUBB. Again, a huge thanks and looking forward to a drink with whoever can help.

...not so urgent but recommendations on a good tire shop would be nice too. I hear Bucaramanga has lots of options and I think my tire should make it there.

cheers,
-duncan

Hi,
Can you make it to Cali? I think you can fix that problem there, just my guess. I am heading to Cali 16 Jan. May be we could meet. How that?

Hola Amzahsulaiman

I'd like to get it fixed before Cali but if I have too, I can make it there. How long will you be in Cali? I'm going to be in Cartagena until the 17th and I hope to explore a lot more of Columbia before reaching Cali but if you're still there, I'd love to meet for a drink and maybe a ride. ...Hopefully with a healthy bike.

Anyone have any suggestions for places closer to Cartagena?

cheers,
-duncan

Suggest you take a look in here, dunters:

Repair Shops, South America - The HUBB

Look for Colombia, rather than Columbia

You could also check out the communities links over there on the left side of your computer screen.

Bon chance!

Oops, that's embarassing. I've been in Colombia 2 weeks now and knew how it was spelled before getting here to boot. ...and I mispelled it twice. I'm blaming the booze.

Thanks Walkabout, that's a really usefell link.

cheers,

Cartagena bike repair

Hey Duncan!

There is a decent place in Cartagena to try but I can't remember the name...DOH!!

Anyway, find your way to the Suzuki dealer (near the fort). Stand with your back to the showroom and the repair shop is along the road to your left, on the right hand side.
There are a few shops together there but there's one in particular that several overlanders have used and recommended. I'm sure someone else will chime in with a name.

Tyres in Bucaramanga no problem. I just checked but I don't have a waypoint...sorry. It was a small shop on a main road with a tyre rack outside near the centre. They didn't have what I wanted on the rack so they made a phone call and 10minslater a guy appeared on a bike with a pair of tyres on the back. They even let me change them in their shop.

See you in Venezuela?

Adam
