Help please! - buying new bikes in Santiago
Hi, my partner and I have been in Santiago now for several days and have sorted a RUT. We have seen 2 bikes that will suit us - 150cc motorrad which are approx 500,000 CLP each. Going into the shop today we realised however that our limited spanish was not going to make things very clear and we wondered if there were any hubbers who might be in Santiago and could step us through the process of buying new from a dealer - for example where the registration plates etc come from.
We are staying at Castillo Surfista close to Plaza Italia until Sunday and you can contact us at panjo813 (at) gmail.com Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
To register the bike you need a RUN or RUT. To get this you need a working Visa. Me as a tourist without a visum (i just have the entrance stamp) i could not register by bike on my name so i had to find someone else to register my bike on his name. Later on i have faked my papers scince i got problems entering other coutrys with a bike wich is registered on someone elses name. Seems most others have managed this with no working Visa. Do German nationals have different restrictions? |

No idea...I went to apply for a RUN with someone who lives in Santiago scince i dont speak the language but they refused unless i get a Visa. Scince this takes more time and is complicated etc i just registered the bike on my friends name and got the notaria to write me a power of attorney to leave the country with "his" bike
