Heidenau K60 tires in Southern SA ??

Hola a todos,

a friend of mine looks for a set of new Heidenau K60 tires for his big BMW 1200 ... do you know where (or the best place) to get them in Southern South America ... e.g. Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brasil??? He has to plan his route according to this.

as I put on my bikes what ever I find (nothing from China yet), I dont know where to get Heidenaus from Germany.

Thank you for your replies

Saludos desde Bolivia
mika

I took a Heidenau K60 for the rear and a Mefo for the front, both strapped across the back of the seat, hanging over the panniers. A medium weight bicycle cable lock added a measure of security to the tires for the rare moments the bike went unattended. The tires rested on a hinged wooden platform that anchored on the spot where a top case would typically attach. The platform acted as a "bottom" to support storage of tent, ground cloth, spare inner tubes, and other stuff. Carrying spare tires worked for me, but its not for everyone. Next time I might not carry my own, we'll see.

Heidenau makes a great tire, but your friend should be prepared to buy what he can find when he needs it. Insisting on buying a particular brand negates the adventure of trying something new. Avoid wasting a lot of time searching for a fixation while passing up something that is good enough. I have heard of a guy that passed on somewhat expensive tires in one town, only to have more difficulty down the road finding anything suitable in the next town and the next town... It will be hard in South America to find the exact tire and a great price together.

If he has to buy something in Brazil, Pirelli tires are made there and are priced accordingly.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
