Good place for Christmas

Any tips on a good place to spend Christmas in southern Peru or Bolivia? Requirements are comforatble accommodation, tasty food, access to the usual beverages and good company. Good scenery too should make it a Happy Christmas on the road.

Cheers, Matt

Santa Cruz, Bolivia meets all your requirements then some! Cheap too! Should be good weather around X-mas time also. Doesn’t hurt ether that the women are gorgeous there too. Feliz Navidad

For the new year in Chile go to the Valparaiso fireworks, is a really huge party with a lot of fireworks in the bay, spectacular!

Around 60000 people visit the city this day to see the show that use all the bay.

I think is the biggest fireworks show in South America.

Sucre in Bolivia would be a cracker, especially with the happy Dutchese at the Joyride Cafe. I just spent a couple of good months there.

Where are you now? I'm in Arica, still in a state of shock about the cost of absolutely evrything in Chile after Bolivia and Peru.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the tips. In the end I ended up in Cusco. Somewhat further north than I had imagined but who cares? Nortons Rat will be the Christmas hangout with a few other bikers in town.

Moving south more rapidly in the New Year. TDF for mid February. Anyone up for it?

Merry Christmas,

Matt

Hi Matt

We should be down in TDF around 3rd week in Feb. Julia (on F650GS Dakar) and Kev (on R1150GS Adv). Currently just flown into Quito, Ecuador. Keep in touch with dates and let us know. Then riding up to BA to fly back to London.

Hi Matt, I´m crossing into Chile mañana (27th) and expect to be in Santiago by the weekend where I have to pick up some mail. Mid Feb for TdF sounds fine to me, drop me a line as you are closing. My intended route is Pan Am south then explore on the way back up. Ride Safe, Mike Anderson
