Getting Across Paraguay

Howzit Folks,
I am contemplating the remainder of my trip and I have ( at least ) a couple of choices depending on roads .

One choice is Boyuibe ( Bolivia ) - Hito Villazon - Mariscal Estigarriba ( Paraguay ) . I have read there could be deep sand on this road . Does anyone hae any experience on this route or anyother across Paraguay ?

Choice no 2 is Santa Cruz ( Bolivia ) - San Jose de Chiquitos - Corumba ( Brasil ) . This "road" is shown as a goat track on some maps , does anyone have any experience with this road/track/footpath ?

Thanks ,
Chris

Hmmm, Through the Gran Chaco you say? I can only give 3 year old info but it was dodgy then, in a 4wd. But that was in March. It should be drier now but it is a track.. It is also a bit of a drug route so keep your wits as it were. Real wild west stuff through there. Kiwi passport? Me too... For gods sake get your Paraguay visa in Santa Cruz.. Nothing at the border and you have to look all over for the pisshead who has to stamp you out and then again further into Paraguay for the guy to stamp you in..
An amazing route but not easy, find someone to join you?? Not that many around I guess..
Corumba I have only done on the death train but I did see a road of sorts, more civilisation (can't think of another word) along the way...
Yes I am jealous...
Cheers
Mark
