Gas in Tierra del Fuego

I have a 12l gas container and want to know when I will need it again. Does anyone know the spread of gas stations in Southern Argentina and back to Santiago via Ruta 40??? I have a range of about 320km standard. And would like some storage space for the warm clothes while we are back in summer..... ie toss the gas container.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Have just arrived into Rio Gallegos this arvo, (heading South on Ruta 3) and 320k range would be adequate as long as you fill up at every opportunity. Can´t speak for heading north from Ushaia yet cos havent done it myself.
Have fun, there´s a lot of straight road and howlin´wind!

I was on the Ruta 40 a few weeks ago going South.I do not remember the name of the place but it was the last fill up before getting to Tres Lagos 336km away.Someone may correct me as i think there is somewhere nearer if you come off the 40.

I'm in TDF right now and am planning on heading up ruta 40 soon. my bike only has a 180-200 mile range and from what i can tell that should be just fine. Once you get to Santa cruz province you can pick up a map of that lables the gas station locations from the tourist office (found one in Caleta Olivia I believe). I also found a plastic 5 liter gas container at one of the stations for 5 pesos for a stretch i was concerned about. your range should be just fine.

have fun

Don't pin the throttle to the stop when riding into the wind - that murders the fuel economy - and you'll be fine.

Patagonia in January - you're very lucky!!

336 km stretch between Baja Caracoles and Tres Lagos is the longest without fuel on Ruta 40. Couple of good campsites in Baja Caracoles, BTW. Enjoy~~
