Hi Ted!

Ted Ted Ted!!!
Here we meet again! Remember! I'm your biggest fan! Only joking!!!! :D

I'm planning to fly our bikes to Bogota mid-May.

There is a lot of info on this on the blogs. Check them.

Bogota is used to getting bikes by air a lot because of the Darien Gap. It seems from all the reports I read that it is less hassle than say Quito. I will put a post on this when I do this! When are you planning to go? I thought it would not be before 2008 at least????

Stumbled across some cheap sea freight from Cartagena to Antwerp vie Horn Linie - around 400US ! Not bad considering the distance & they must ship stuff the other way.

Contact there is Sabine Güttel sguettel <delete this at> hornlinie.com , worth dropping them an email to get a quote.

Cheers dude but im determined to go airfreight only....

Maria has been getting quotes of £1500 though so i may have to look at sea or fly somewhere else.

Might be worth looking at freight from Paris to French Guiana - then ride down the coast of Brasil ? Rumor has it that route is subsidised ('cos its part of France), would be easy getting the paperwork done as well ('cos its France).

Downside - the only way from there to Brazil is putting your bike in a *very* small boat at St.Georges & going 10km upriver to Oyapoque.

HH, Paulr shipped out of Cartagena back to Europe a couple of months ago. It might be worth PM'ing him for more details.

you might want to consider shipping to Buenos Aires. Dakarmotos.com can help yuo out finding out companies that ship to BA and help you get the bike out of customs. one guy shipped his bike from BA to Switzerland with Luftansa cargo for 1,200USD
