Ferry From Buenos Aires To Colonia (Uruguay)

Some information about the ferry from BA to Uruguay as there were a few bikers claiming this was incredibly expensive and talking about riding round.

The ferry from BA to Colonia costs 59 pesos per person and 51 pesos for the bike. The price is one way and the ferry runs daily at 9am. Need to be there 1 hour before to get the ticket and sort out customs clearance. Great boat too.

Hi Matt!

Are you now in Colonia? I'm right now in Fray Bentos and drive back to BA manana.

Thanks for the information, although I drove around. By the way, there is a police control at the end of ruta 12 northwards, they where asking me for insurance and stupid things like that. I pointed on some entry in my bike papers, that they for sure couldn't understand, and said this is the insurance. They looked a bit like they wanted to have some money from me...

Met Bob on my way from azul to F. bentos and should give you his card to you!

Greetings

Marco

For future reference here is a link to the ferry's website. It's in Spanish and a bit complicated. Also a link from a website from where I found the ferry link a great site on BA by a local.
