dirt bike in center-saut amrica

hllo !
im planning to by a bike in usa and travel with him all the way to south america.
the bike is a xr650r ...
my questions are:
1. is it more expensive to travel in south america with a bike that has american license plates than a bike that was bought in south/central america?
2. is it possible to sell the bike in south america if i bought it in the u.s ?
3. what would be the best insurence for a bike that would enable me to go through all the countries in south / central america ?

1. marginally. There are some agreements between South American countries where it's cheaper if the bike is from a neighbouring country, but not enough of a factor to change anything.

2. Possible. Tricky. DO a search on the site, lots of info on this subject.

3. There is no such thing. You are on your own. Some countries require insurance, and you can buy it at the border, but most don't. And insurance in Country A is not valid in Country B.

Insurance that is valid in multiple countries IF you can find it is prohibitively expensive.
