Crossing from Bolivia to Chile via Salar de Uyuni

Hello, Im currently in Uyuni and headed to the Salar tomorrow and then south to the Chilean border to San Pedro de Atacama. Do I need to take care of migracion and customs here in Uyuni, or are there services at the border or along the way? And is the Chilean migracion and customs and the border or in San Pedro?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi, After the salar and closer to the border, there is a mine where you will hand in your TIP form. the mine is at over 5000 metres, so wrap up well :-) The Aduana office is inside the mine. S22 26.448 W67 48.353

then, head for the border, there, you can do the Bolivian passport exit stamp.

you do both the passport stamp and get the TIP form in San Pedro De A.

Enjoy! It's a few days by truck....

P.s. This is our trip report with a map of where we went. There is quite a bit to see along the way....

Thanks man!........Im in Argentina now and had an even bigger problem......Got stamped in and out of Chile at Paso de Jama. Argentine customs share the desks with Chile, same building for both. This is a new thing, as Chile services used to be back at San Pedro de Atacama. They are in both places now..

Argentina stamped my passport, but would not let me bring the bike in. They did not accept that I cought the bike in Colombia because it is a Bolivian bike. I couldnt believe it. I spent the night at the border, and then did my second illegal crossing through a slat flat in 2 days. I made it all the way to Salta, but I am feeling pretty tentative every time I see a cop...

I think Ill at least get SOAT, and if I get pulled over, Ill at least have my passport and SOAT ready, and hope they dont ask to see my aduana papers. Other than that, I have a friend in Mendoza where Im headed who works in the motorcycle touring industry, and Ill see if he can find a way to help me out somehow. Ive been told since that the aduana in Argentina - it just depends on who you get. Apparently I got the wrong guy.
