I think, as a Scotsman, he is thinking of having his low beam point to the right rather than left. Depends on the bike, if it's a sealed beam, it's easy to change. Not sure how hard it is to find opposite hand reflectors if it's not.

Unless you plan on ridng at night a lot I wouldn't bother changing it. Half the idiots on the road can't be bothered to dim their brights anyway.

Hey,
we did not have a problem with headlight during night. However, at least in Brasil the light has to be on the whole time, also during day.
Anyway, I really recommend you not to ride during night. That might be really dangerous because of bad road conditions. It might be that the road is in a good condition for 50km, but suddenly there are everywhere holes. And I do not mean little holes, like in Europe!
So be careful riding during night. It might also have big rocks on the road in the andes. So better let that be.

Enjoy your trip

Hi!

No one will care about your lights but they should work, because sometimes they will control that! In Brasil they must be on and to drive in night is really not recomanded because the holes in Brasil are really big and beetween Sao Luis and Belem you can dump cars in there without seeing them anymore!

Have fun, Appie!

Ridden UK bikes over in North and South America for ten years. Never changed the headlight. Whether you should or not??? We've never had a problem.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
