Chaos in Argentina

Hi, I am back in Buenos Aires from the UK and eating steak! I head south to Ushuaia tomorrow by bus to collect my Honda 125 and ride north to NY. Bus to Ushuaia? Because Aerolineas Argentinas internal flights are in chaos. EL NACION reported today that only two flights over the weekend left on time, 13 were cancelled. Having waited 14 hours, enraged passengers smashed six computers at the check in desks!
My own flight from London was purgatory, 13 hours late. I had a call today, Tuesday, that my bike box has arrived. It was booked thru with me on Wednesday afternoon. What´s a week? Anxiety! especially as my new Alpinestars kit is in the box. I was wearing the boots. Full account and trip on Blog at home
Happy days...

I'm envious!!

It's chaotic here in the UK as well, but that is delivered from on high i.e. flooding; shrewd people here are now ordering the wood for an ark & adapting the bike engine to drive a propeller!!

Good luck with your travelling,

Thanks

Thanks for the messages. I know of the flooding. We live at the foot of the Malvern Hills (Herefordshire side) and my wife had a hell of a time getting home.

... Hi Simon - I now have my GS in Buenos Aires to accompany the bife de chorizo. I'm based in San Telmo, but I'm sure I'll be in regular contact with Javier and Sandra at Dakar Motos too. I can be reached on +54 15 5410 8080 if you're at a loose end.

Dear hit by 3 trucks,

Hey Simon, how ya doin? Considering what you went through, our positive thoughts are with you.

I scoured your "home" but did not find the "plan". Please advise where to look on your web site for the plan. Let me know if I can do anything to help from Buenos Aires. xfiltrate

I Have A Plan

I hate writing down a plan. I will be confronted by it later. How come you planned this and did that?
However...
Pepe, the one-legged (Triumph 750) orthopaedic surgeon says that I should be able to travel in three weeks. I am sending the bike to BA where it will be on view next week at DAKAR MOTOS.
Once I can travel, I will take the bus to Puerto Natales, ferry to Puerto Montt, bus to Santiago, bus across to Paraguay, bus south to BA, collect bike from DAKAR MOTOS and continue ride thru Uruguay to Brazil, Venezuela, etc.
The bus and ferry stage will take six to eight weeks.
I wish the bike had an electric start!
Again thanks for all the good wishes,
:oops2: simon

... Sorry to hear of your upset Simon, see you when you get here. Rapid recovery mate :thumbup1:

Ok Simon, I got it...

Simon.....I never had much use for plans either, unless I was getting paid the big bucks....... I was inquiring to offer hospitality here in BA, while you recover.

We have an adjacent (to our apt) kitchen apartment with full bath and private entrance in Recoleta with guarded up scale moto parking right next door... Sounds like you won't be in BA for a while. We will be here until time to ride south for Hubb meeting in Viedma, Argentina. I believe that will be early in December. We could sub let apt in december while we are traveling for a month or two. Just let us know

When you do get to BA let's get together. You are amazing and a topic of our conversations everyday. Keep your spirits up, you seem to be very flexible and that is a great quality. Do you have friends where you are now?

I am happy to learn you have made arrangements with Javier. I know he has helped many, many overlanders and is an expert mechanic with a great shop. Meanwhile, eat, drink and be careful..........

Kindness

Again, thank you all for the good wishes and offers of help and hospitality - little deserved by a stupid old fool who rides on ice!
